India's indigenously developed long range surface-to-surface ballistic missile Agni-V is expected to be inducted into the nuclear arsenal very soon. Agni-V is a 3- stage solid propellant nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation. It has a strike range of over 5000 km and can carry nuclear warheads of more than one tonne . It carries Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicles (MIRV) payloads. It can reach most parts of China, Asia, Europe and Africa. It is a strategic asset and will act as a deterrent.
