South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to be the Republic Day Cheif Guest in 2019. Cyril Ramaphosa became the President of South Africa this year succeeding Jacob Zuma. Cyril Ramaphosa, a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, was invited because this year will mark Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary.
